Originally a mixed farming property, Green Point is located in the centre of the historic Yarra Valley grape growing district that became known for its high quality wines in the latter half of the 19th century. Its east facing slopes and sandy clay loam soils are ideal for production of high quality wines. The vineyard area is 44 Ha and is planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Shiraz.
The Winery and Visitor Centre (the Green Point Room) are located in lovely grounds amongst the vineyards and have spectacular views across the valley to the mountains. The Visitors Centre, property and vineyards are now a 'must see' destination in the Yarra Valley, only 1 hour from the centre of Melbourne. The winery receives over 100,000 visitors a year including approximately 15,000 international visitors, who enjoy the super premium Chandon and Green Point wines and may also enjoy a lunch platter of Yarra Valley produce.
The 'colonnade' linking the winery to the visitor's centre with its distinctive link arches was architecturally inspired by the old houses seen in valleys of the Champagne district of France.
The arches are inspiration for our distinctive Green Point logo. |
